About Us: Collège La Découverte
Collège La Découverte is a new private lower secondary school in Geneva, founded on an innovative and alternative pedagogical approach centred on the child. We are currently developing a full curriculum leading to the Swiss Matura (cantonal and federal) as well as the International Baccalaureate (IB), in line with an active, bilingual (French-English) and personalised educational philosophy for each learner.
Main Mission:
We are seeking a specialist in Swiss cantonal and federal Matura, passionate about education and alternative pedagogies, to support the design, structuring and implementation of our upper secondary (Secondary II) academic programme.
This consultancy assignment will begin in April 2026 (or by agreement) for an initial period of several months, with the possibility of extending into a longer-term collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
In direct collaboration with the school leadership and teaching team:
- Advise on pedagogical and didactic orientations for the opening of the Matura level.
- Develop a clear and realistic vision of the curriculum leading to the Swiss cantonal and federal gymnasial Matura.
- Define learning objectives, content and academic progressions in accordance with federal and cantonal requirements.
- Integrate framework curricula and official Matura standards into our educational project.
- Advise on regulatory aspects, assessments, examinations and recognition procedures.
- Prepare documentation for cantonal and federal authorities where required.
- Develop teaching materials, tools and training aligned with Matura standards.
- Ensure coherence between alternative pedagogy and Swiss academic requirements.
- Structure an implementation plan for the Matura cycle and support leadership and staff throughout key development stages.
Profile Sought
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree or equivalent in education sciences, pedagogy, didactics or a related field.
- Proven experience with the Swiss Matura (cantonal and/or federal), either within a gymnasium or as an educational consultant.
- In-depth understanding of the Swiss gymnasial Matura system and cantonal variations.
Skills
- Strong understanding of federal and cantonal requirements for Secondary II.
- Ability to align innovative pedagogy with academic standards and constraints.
- Excellent command of French; English highly desirable.
- Strong pedagogical, writing and team-support skills.
- Strong alignment with alternative pedagogical values and the philosophy of Collège La Découverte.
- Initiative, active listening skills, autonomy and collaborative mindset.
Conditions
- Contract type: Independent consultant (fees to be agreed)
- Location: Geneva – Chemin Camille-Vidart 17
- Start date: April 2026 or by agreement
- Duration: Several months, with possible extension depending on project development
